Search and filters

Find a project across every folder and change the order of the list.

On this page

The projects list carries a search box and a sort control. Both write to the page URL, so the view you are looking at is a link you can bookmark or send to someone in the same workspace.

Search your projects

The Search projects box sits at the top of /dashboard/projects and at the top of every folder page. Typing filters the list after a short pause, so you can keep typing without the results flickering.

Your term is written to the URL as ?q=. Clearing the box removes it again.

Search reaches across folders

This is the part worth knowing. On the projects page, searching switches the list from projects not in a folder to every project in the workspace, folders included. The folder cards disappear while a search is active, because a folder card would only get in the way of results drawn from inside it.

Inside a folder page the behaviour is the opposite and deliberate: search stays scoped to that folder.

What search matches

A term is matched, case insensitively and anywhere in the value, against:

Field Example of what matches
Name The project name you gave it
Description The project description
Slug The dashboard address of the project
Reference The project's internal reference
Default subdomain The free web address it publishes to
Custom domain A domain you connected
www domain The www companion of that domain

It also matches people. If your term matches the name, email or account of a member of the workspace, every project they created or last edited is returned. Searching a colleague's name is a quick way to see what they have been working on.

Pasting a project ID finds that project directly.

When nothing matches

You get an empty state titled No results with the line Try a different name or clear search.

Sort the list

The dropdown next to the search box sets the order. It has six options:

Option Order
Latest Updated Most recently changed first, the default
Oldest Updated Least recently changed first
Latest Created Newest project first
Oldest Created Oldest project first
Name Ascending A to Z
Name Descending Z to A

The choice is written to the URL as ?sort=. Picking Latest Updated removes the parameter again, since it is the default. An unrecognised value in the URL falls back to the default rather than erroring.

Sorting and searching combine, and both survive a reload.

Loading more

Projects load eight at a time as you reach the bottom of the list. Placeholder cards appear for the ones still coming, so the grid does not jump.

Changing the search term, the sort, the folder or the workspace clears the list and starts again from the top.

The home page list

The My projects tab on /dashboard is a fixed view: it always shows the most recently updated projects from across every folder, and it has no search or sort of its own. View all takes you to /dashboard/projects where the controls live.

Templates search is separate

The Search templates box on the Templates page uses the same URL parameter but searches the public gallery on name, description and category. It does not look at your own projects.
