Share and Earn

Your invite link, the 5 credits you and the person you invite each get, and the 50 credits you earn the first time they pay.

Share and Earn is the referral program that pays in credits. Every account gets an invite link. When someone creates their account through your link you both get 5 extra credits, and the first time that person pays Modulify, for a plan or for a credit pack, you get 50 more.

There is nothing to apply for and no threshold to clear. The signup credits land immediately, and the first payment earns straight away.

Modulify runs two separate things. Share and Earn is on this page: it pays credits, everyone is in it, and the reward lands in your workspace. Affiliates is the influencer program: it pays a 20 percent cash commission to your PayPal address and has its own code, its own dashboard and its own payout rules. Share and Earn opens from the sidebar card and Affiliates from the user menu, and being in one has no effect on the other.

Open it

Click the Spread the word card that sits just above the user menu, at the bottom of the sidebar. It is on every account. The card opens a window rather than a page, so you can reach it from anywhere in the dashboard without leaving what you were doing.

The window is headed Spread the word with the line "and earn free credits", under a badge reading Earn 50 credits.

Your code is created with your account, so there is nothing to generate and nothing to wait for. Opening the window loads it, and the link row reads Creating your invite link until it arrives.

A code is 7 characters of uppercase letters and digits. The characters that get misread out loud are left out of the alphabet entirely, so no code ever contains I, O, 0 or 1.

The link is the Modulify address with /invite/ and your code appended.

A QR code for the same link sits to the left of it, sized for someone to scan off your screen. Copy link puts the full address on your clipboard and raises Copied with "Share it anywhere to start earning credits." If the browser refuses the clipboard you get Copy failed with "Your invite link could not be copied."

Under the link row, a line reads Rewards land in your default workspace, never split. with a Read the rules link that opens this page.

The QR code is the fastest way to hand your link to someone in the room. Everything else, a message, an email, a post, wants the copied link, because the code alone does nothing without the /invite/ address in front of it.

How it works

The window states it in three lines under How it works:

  • Share your invite link
  • You both get 5 credits when they sign up
  • You get 50 credits the first time they pay

Underneath that, this is the full path.

They land on /invite/ plus your code. Modulify reads the code, stores it and sends them on to the dashboard, so the page they see is the normal one.

The code waits in their browser

It is held in their browser for up to 30 days. Safari on iPhone and iPad keeps a script written cookie for 7 days at most, so the window is shorter there. If they create the account after it lapses, or clear their browser data, or finish signing up in a different browser, the invite is not counted.

They create an account

The stored code is read back at the moment the account is created and the referral is recorded. Their brand new workspace is given 5 credits, on top of whatever their plan grants, and 5 credits land in your default workspace at the same moment. The cookie is then cleared, because the invite has done its job.

They pay for something

The first time that person starts a paid subscription, renews one, or buys a credit pack, 50 credits land in your default workspace. That is the only payment reward that person can earn you, so anything they pay for after it earns nothing.

The 50 credits are paid once per person. Whichever payment they make first earns it, and every payment after that earns nothing, however long they keep paying. Inviting more people is the only way to earn more.

Where your credits land

Rewards go to your default workspace, the one carrying the filled star in the workspace switcher, not to whichever workspace you happen to have open. Owning several workspaces changes nothing here: the credits are never split across them and never follow the workspace you are working in.

Which one is the default is read at the moment the reward is earned. Setting a different workspace as your default sends the rewards you have not earned yet there, and the credits already paid into the old one stay where they are. See Workspaces.

They arrive as top up credits, the same pool a credit pack lands in. That means they are not touched by the monthly reset, they never expire, and they are spent before your subscription allowance. See Credits.

The reward is attached to money actually charged. A plan a discount code takes all the way to $0.00 bills nothing, so it earns nothing. The charge has to be at least one cent for the 50 credits to be granted, and a zero dollar charge does not use up the one reward that person can earn you.

The rules

  • You cannot invite yourself. A code that turns out to be your own is dropped at signup and no referral is recorded.
  • A person can only be invited once. The invite is fixed to the person, not to each payment, and a second invite link never overwrites the first one.
  • It has to be a new account. The link earns when it leads to an account being created. Someone who already has a Modulify account and opens your link is not counted, however they sign in afterwards.
  • One payment ever earns. The first payment that person makes is worth 50 credits, once. Later payments earn nothing, and a payment the provider reports more than once is still counted once.

The numbers in the window

Once at least one person has signed up through your link, three figures appear above it.

With nobody signed up yet the row is not shown at all, so an empty window means the link has not been used, not that something went wrong.

If the window cannot load, it shows Could not load Share and Earn with "Close this and open it again in a moment."

FAQ

Do I have to apply?

No. Your invite link exists as soon as your account does, and the Spread the word card is in the sidebar for everyone.

Does a free signup earn me anything?

Yes. You both get 5 credits the moment the account is created. The 50 arrives the first time they pay for a plan or a credit pack.

Is the reward once per person, or every time?

Once per person. The 5 credits land at signup and the 50 credits land on their first payment. Renewals and later credit packs earn nothing.

Which workspace do my credits go to?

Your default workspace, as top up credits, however many workspaces you own. Nothing is split and nothing follows the workspace you have open. If you set a different workspace as your default, the rewards you earn from then on go there instead.

Do the credits I earn expire?

No. Top up credits are not cleared by the monthly reset, so they stay until you spend them.

Is this the same as Affiliates?

No. Share and Earn pays credits into your workspace. Affiliates pays a 20 percent cash commission to PayPal and is a separate program with its own code.
