Delete a project

What deleting removes, who is allowed to do it, and what happens afterwards.

Deleting a project is permanent from the dashboard. There is no trash, no undo and no restore button, so read the confirmation before you accept it.

Who can delete

You can delete a project if you created it, or if you hold the Delete projects permission in the workspace. Otherwise Delete is disabled in the menu with the tooltip You do not have permission to delete this project.

Locked projects cannot be deleted. A locked card has no menu at all.

Delete one project

Open the project's card menu and choose Delete, at the bottom in red.

A confirmation appears titled Delete ""? Its description names what goes with it, for example This action cannot be undone. It will permanently delete this project, including its 6 pages and 14 components. Projects with nothing counted get the shorter This action cannot be undone. It will permanently delete this project.

You can also delete from inside the project. Its Settings tab has a Delete project row described as Permanently delete this project, including all of its pages, components, and data. This action cannot be undone. with a red Delete project button. Confirming there sends you back to the dashboard.

Delete several at once

Tick the checkboxes on several cards and choose Delete on the selection bar. The confirmation reads Delete N projects? with the matching description.

What happens

The project disappears from the dashboard immediately and a toast confirms it. Behind that:

  • Its preview and its live site stop running, so a published address stops serving the site
  • The workspace's project count drops, freeing a slot on your plan
  • Any scheduled jobs the site had are switched off, marked Disabled because this project was deleted.
  • Any chat messages still queued for it are dropped
  • If the folder it was in is on screen, that folder's count drops too

If the workspace had a locked site because you were over your plan's limit, deleting an unlocked one releases the slot and the most recently updated locked site unlocks straight away.

There is no restore

There is no trash and no undo in the dashboard, and nothing you can click brings a deleted project back. Treat every delete as final and copy anything you might want later before you confirm.

Duplicate in the card menu is the cheap way to keep a full copy, including its database content and uploaded files. It does count as a site against your plan.

Deleting a folder is not deleting projects

Delete on a folder removes only the folder. Every project inside it returns to the main projects list, and the confirmation says so: This folder contains N projects. They will be moved to your main projects list.
