Projects

What a project holds, where it lives, and what the card menu can do.

On this page

A project is one site. It holds the pages, the content, the files, the database and the settings for that site, and it is the thing you open to edit.

Where projects live

Two places show the same projects.

Home at /dashboard opens with the prompt box, then a My projects tab underneath showing your most recently updated work. If the workspace has no projects yet, the Modulify templates tab is selected instead. View all on the right takes you to the full list.

Projects at /dashboard/projects is the full list, with search, sorting and your folders. Folder cards appear first, then projects.

Projects belong to a workspace, not to you personally. Switching workspace switches the whole list.

What a project card shows

The card is a thumbnail of the site with the project name under it. Below the name it reads Edited plus a relative time and shows the avatar of whoever last changed it, or Created plus a time if nobody has edited it yet.

The thumbnail is generated from the site. Until one exists you see a placeholder.

Two badges can appear on the thumbnail. Transfer pending in the bottom left means a transfer invite is waiting to be accepted, and clicking it reopens the transfer dialog. A Webflow badge in the top right marks a legacy Webflow project. New projects are always sites.

The card menu

Hover a card and a three dots button appears to the right of the project name. Right clicking anywhere on the card opens the same menu.

Item What it does
Open Project Opens the project in a new tab
Copy Project Link Copies the dashboard link, which only workspace members can open
Open Published Project Opens the live site in a new tab
Copy Published App Link Copies the live site address
Duplicate Makes a copy in this workspace
Transfer Invites someone else to take ownership
Move to Workspace Moves it to another workspace you belong to
Move to Folder Puts it in a folder
Remove from Folder Only shown while you are inside that project's folder
Settings Opens the project's Settings tab
Delete Deletes the project, shown last and in red

Open Published Project and Copy Published App Link are disabled until the site has been published at least once, and the first carries the tooltip This project has not been published yet.

Transfer reads Manage Transfer when an invite is already out. Move to Workspace is disabled when you belong to only one workspace, with the tooltip You have no other workspaces to move this project to.

Items you lack permission for are disabled rather than hidden, and the tooltip says which permission is missing.

Selecting several at once

Hover a card and a checkbox appears in its top left. Tick one and a bar appears at the bottom of the screen reading N selected, with Move to folder, Move to workspace, Transfer, Delete and Cancel. Remove from folder joins them when every selected project lives in the folder you are viewing.

The checkbox on the bar selects or clears every loaded project. While a selection is active, clicking a card toggles it instead of opening it.

Locked projects

If your workspace holds more sites than your plan allows, the extra ones are locked. A locked card is greyed over with a padlock and the words Locked Item, it cannot be opened, and it has no menu. The most recently updated sites stay unlocked.

Upgrading your plan unlocks them. So does deleting an unlocked site, which frees the slot for the most recently updated locked one.
