Create a project

Start a site from a prompt or from a template.

Every project starts on the dashboard home page at /dashboard. The prompt box is the main route in, and templates feed into the same place.

Before you begin

You need to be signed in, and the workspace you are in needs a free site slot on its plan. Generating a site spends AI credits, so the workspace needs a balance. Reading, browsing and publishing do not cost credits.

Describe what you want

The box on the home page is placeholded Describe the site you want to build.... Type what the site is for and who it is for. Detail helps: the same prompt that names sections, audience and tone produces a much closer first result than a single word.

Press the arrow button to start. Modulify creates the project, takes you into it, and your prompt appears as the first message in the project's chat.

The send button stays disabled while the box is empty. There is a 500,000 character ceiling on the prompt, and hitting it shows You have reached the maximum character limit. under the box.

Enhance with AI

Under the box, Enhance with AI rewrites what you have typed into a fuller brief. Use it when you know roughly what you want but do not feel like writing it out.

Attach files and pick a mode

The + button on the left of the box opens a menu with Manage connectors, Manage skills, Attach file and Modulify MCP. A project can carry up to 30 attachments. Images you attach are shown alongside your first message.

Next to it sits the mode picker, the same control you get inside the project. Mode chooses between building straight away and writing a plan first, covered in Plan and Build modes.

The microphone button records you rather than dictating live. It captures up to two minutes, transcribes the recording, and drops the text into the box for you to read and edit. It never sends on its own. See Site chat.

Start from a template

Templates are finished sites you can copy and then change. Open Templates in the sidebar, or the Modulify templates tab on the home page, pick one and choose Clone in Modulify.

The Create button

On /dashboard/projects, once the workspace has at least one project, a Create button sits at the top right. It holds two items: Create project, which takes you back to the home page prompt, and Create folder, which opens the folder dialog.

While the workspace is still empty, the projects list shows an empty state titled No projects with the description Create your first project to get started. and a Create project button.

When you hit a limit

Two limits can stop a creation, and each has its own response.

Out of AI credits. The plan and credits dialog opens on its purchase view, showing the empty balance and the packs you can buy.

Site limit reached. How this lands depends on your plan. On a paid plan that is not canceled or overdue, you are asked Add an extra site? with the price stated, $10 a month or $120 a year depending on your billing period, and an Add site button that adds it to your current subscription and then retries the creation. Otherwise a dialog titled Site limit reached! offers an upgrade.
