Manage your subscription
Upgrade, downgrade, cancel, resume, and find your invoices.
On this page
Everything here happens on the Plans page of the workspace you are billing, reached from the workspace menu. Only the workspace owner can act on it.
Before you begin
Check the workspace switcher first. Plans are per workspace, so the page acts on whichever one you are currently in.
If a payment has failed, the sidebar shows a Payment failed! card reading "Update your billing details to keep your plan and sites active." Clear that first with Manage Subscription. While a subscription is overdue, plan, credit and site changes are all refused.
Subscribe for the first time
On Free, the Starter and Pro cards show Try Now.
Set the Annual switch the way you want it, since the page opens on annual. Set the AI credits and Sites dropdowns, since both are part of the price you are about to agree to. Then press the button.
You go to Stripe checkout. The submit button there carries a summary of exactly what you configured, in the form Pro Plan: 600 AI credits / month · 2 sites (1 extra). Promotion codes are accepted on that page.
If you arrived through somebody's affiliate link, their referral code rides along on this checkout session and is what attributes the commission. See Referrals and payouts.
Paying returns you to where you started with the toast Checkout complete, "Congratulations! Your subscription was activated." Backing out returns Checkout canceled, "No changes were made, your plan stayed the same."
Switch between Starter and Pro
The other card reads Upgrade to Pro or Downgrade to Starter. Pressing it asks to confirm:
Switch to Pro Plan? Your plan changes right away and billing is prorated for the rest of the period. Your credits and sites carry over.
Confirm and the switch happens on the spot, no checkout. An upgrade is invoiced immediately for the difference, so it can fail on a declined card. A downgrade puts the difference on your account as a credit against the next invoice.
Both cards read Unavailable if the card's billing period does not match the one you are subscribed on.
Moving from Pro to Starter drops team members, because Starter does not include them. Everyone but the owner is removed from the workspace when the switch goes through.
Change your credits or sites
Change either dropdown on your own plan card and the button turns into Save changes. Pressing it asks to confirm, and the description spells out both effects:
Save plan changes? Your sites will change to 3 sites, applied now and prorated for the rest of the period. Your credits will change to 600 per month, applied at your next renewal.
The two are deliberately different. Sites take effect immediately and are invoiced right away. Credits take effect at your next renewal, so the current month keeps the allowance you already paid for. Until then the dropdown shows the amount you are moving to, not the one you are on.
You cannot reduce your sites below the number you are actually using. The attempt is refused with You are using 3 sites. Delete a site before reducing your slots!
Downgrade to Free
The Free card reads Downgrade to Free. It asks:
Downgrade to the free plan? Your paid plan stays active until the end of the billing period, then switches to Free.
Nothing changes immediately. The paid plan runs to the end of the period you already paid for, and the Free card then reads Downgrade scheduled while your own plan card offers Resume plan.
What happens when it lands
Three things change on the day the plan actually ends.
Any site beyond the one Free includes is locked, most recently updated kept. A locked project shows a padlock and the words Locked Item on the dashboard, cannot be opened and cannot be published: publishing refuses with This site is locked because it exceeds your plan limits. Upgrade your plan or add an extra site to publish it! Nothing is deleted, and resubscribing unlocks it.
The Modulify badge comes back on your published sites, and Modulify republishes them so visitors see it.
Workspace members are removed, because Free does not include team members.
Resume a cancelled plan
Any time before the end date, your plan card reads Resume plan. Pressing it turns the cancellation off with no confirmation step and no new checkout, and the plan carries on as it was. The toast confirms Your plan has been resumed.
If the subscription has already ended you get Your plan stays active until its end date and will not renew. You can subscribe again once it ends! and you subscribe again from scratch.
Invoices, receipts and cards
The View Subscription button sits above the plan cards, next to the line "View your plan and billing details." It opens the Stripe billing portal for your account, which is where invoices and receipts live.
The Manage button inside the credit purchase panel opens the same portal straight onto card management, which is the quickest route when a card has expired.
Modulify emails the workspace owner for the events that matter on their own: a plan starting, a plan being cancelled, a plan about to end, credits being reset, and a credit top up being purchased.
Enterprise
An Enterprise workspace is managed by the Modulify team. Every other card on the page reads Unavailable, and a plan change attempted anyway is refused with This workspace is on an Enterprise plan managed by our team. Please contact support to make billing changes!
