No handoff at all
The thing you are adjusting is the real site, responsive and working, not a picture of it that someone has to rebuild afterwards.
Figma is the industry standard for designing interfaces, and nothing here is an argument against that. The gap it leaves is the one every team knows: a design file is not a website. Someone still has to build it, wire the content, host it, and keep it alive. Modulify goes straight to that working site from a description, which either replaces the design stage for straightforward work or picks up where it leaves off.
Two stages of the same process, not two answers to one question.
| Capability | Modulify | Figma |
|---|---|---|
| What it produces | A working, hosted site with a CMS, data, and publishing. | Designs and prototypes, and increasingly published pages too. |
| Exploring a design idea | You iterate on the real thing rather than a representation of it. | Unmatched. Fast, freeform exploration with a whole team watching. |
| Content management | Structured collections your team edits, no deploy. | Not its purpose. Content in a design file is placeholder. |
| Database, storage, accounts | Included. Real records, file storage, and user logins. | Outside its scope. |
| Handoff to a built site | There is no handoff. What you refine is the live site. | Specs, tokens, and inspection to hand to whoever builds it. |
| Team design collaboration | Comments on the live page, without a multiplayer design canvas. | The category standard. Multiplayer editing, components, libraries. |

This comparison reflects each product’s publicly stated positioning and our own reading of where it is strongest. Figma is a trademark of its owner and is not affiliated with Modulify. Products change quickly, so check anything that would decide your choice before you commit to it.
The value is in removing a stage, not in replacing a design tool.
No handoff at all
The thing you are adjusting is the real site, responsive and working, not a picture of it that someone has to rebuild afterwards.
Skip the mockup for straightforward work
For a landing page or a standard marketing site, generating the real page is usually faster than designing it and then building it.
It is a real site
Content in a CMS, form submissions in a database, user accounts if you need them. All the parts a design file has to represent with placeholder text.

Someone still has to build the thing it describes.
Design and build being separate stages is so normal that the cost of it is easy to overlook: the file gets approved, the build drifts from it, the CMS was not considered, and the responsive behaviour gets decided by whoever implements it. When the design is generated as a working site, those gaps do not open, because there is only one artefact. That is not an argument against designing, it is an argument against the handoff for work that does not need it.
Where Figma is essential, and no platform changes that.
Exploration and craft
For original brand work, unusual layouts, and the exploration before anyone knows what the answer is, a design canvas is the right place to think.
How design teams work
Multiplayer editing, component libraries, design systems, and critique. That is the standard workflow of an entire profession, for good reason.
Far beyond websites
Product interfaces, mobile apps, design systems, and prototypes. Modulify only builds websites and the tools around them.
Included from the free plan up, not sold as separate services.
What teams ask when they are deciding between the two.
No, and it would be strange to claim so. Figma is where interfaces get designed and where design teams work. Modulify produces a working, hosted site from a description. For a straightforward marketing site it can remove the mockup stage; for original design work it does not replace the canvas.
You can attach a design or describe it in detail and have Modulify build toward it, refining visually from there. It is not a pixel-exact file importer, and treating it as one would set the wrong expectation.
Shared sections and brand rules keep pages consistent as the site grows, which is the job a design system does in Figma, applied to the live site instead of the file.
Very much so. Designers use Modulify to skip the build handoff and keep control of type, spacing, colour, and layout on the real thing. The work moves from producing mockups to directing the output.
Describe what you want and refine the real thing, with no handoff in between.
